What’s New for the Updated 2018 Kia Rio Design?

An advantage to the redesigned 2018 Kia Rio in Fort Worth, TX is a more spacious and more versatile interior that is derived from a larger platform. Drivers who choose the Kia Rio 5-Door will benefit from 90.5 cubic feet of passenger space to go with 17.4 cubic feet of cargo space that will expand to 32.8 cubic feet with the rear seats laid flat. The Kia Rio Sedan will provide occupants with 89.9 cubic feet of passenger space with 13.7 cubic feet of trunk space.

When you slide into the driver’s seat of the entry-level 2018 Kia Rio, you will discover a comfortable, well-equipped cabin that features standard Bluetooth connectivity, a six-speaker sound system, satellite radio capabilities and a rearview camera. An upgrade to the top-of-the-line Kia Rio EX trim level adds a Kia UVO3 seven-inch touchscreen display with voice recognition, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. To further amplify the athletic design of the Kia Rio and improve ride comfort, engineers added a fully-independent MacPherson strut front suspension.

At the heart of the Kia Rio design resides an enhanced 1.6-liter direct-injected four-cylinder Gamma engine that manufactures a fun-to-drive 130 horsepower and 119 pound-feet of torque. Power is distributed to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. With responsive transmission options and an updated engine, the 2018 Kia Rio is expected to achieve higher fuel-economy ratings than its predecessor.
