The Kia Sorento and Sportage are Kia’s popular SUVs and while they may seem somewhat similar on the outside in terms of design and size, the Sorento and Sportage offer various unique features when compared to the other. We compared the 2016 Sorento to the 2016 Sportage to show how each Kia SUV compares to the other and what are the main differences between the two. One of the largest differences between the 2016 Sorento and Sportage is that the Sorento has options for either a 5- or 7-passenger configuration, while the Sportage is only able to hold 5-passengers max.

The 2016 Sorento is larger than the 2016 Sportage, because of its ability to hold 7 passengers. The Sorento has a maximum cargo volume of 73 cubic feet with the second and third row folded down, with just the third row folded down the Sorento has 38 cubic feet of cargo space and behind the third row for those who need the 7 passenger configuration the Sorento still has 11.3 cubic feet of cargo volume. Both the Sorento and Sportage offer all-wheel drive for drivers who would prefer that over the standard front-wheel drive.

2016 Kia Sorento Safety Features

Another difference between the 2016 Sorento and 2016 Sportage is that the Sorento offers a variety of active safety features including, blind-spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, advanced smart cruise control, forward collision warning system and lane departure warning system. These features are standard on the SX equipped with the V6 engine and the Limited trims. The Sportage does not offer these safety features, so if these features are high on your list of wants and needs, then the Sorento may be better equipped for you.
