2017 Kia Sorento L vs 2017 Kia Sorento SXL

The Kia Sorento is the largest available SUV in the lineup. Available in five- or seven-passenger configurations the Sorento offers superior interior space, performance and plenty of technology and safety features. The 2017 Sorento is available in five trim levels L, LX, EX, SX and SXL and each trim differs in engine specs, towing power, fuel economy and more. Interested in the new 2017 Sorento? The first difference starts with the engines. The 2017 Sorento L is powered by a 2.4-liter engine with 185 horsepower, whereas the 2017 Sorento SXL is powered by a 3.3-liter V6 engine with 290 horsepower. Due to the difference in engines, both Sorento models have different towing capabilities as well. The Sorento L has a standard towing capability of 2,000 pounds and the Sorento SXL jumps up to a standard 5,000 pounds.

Passengers interested in an all-wheel drive drivetrain will notice that the Sorento L does not come with available all-wheel drive but every Sorento model after that does offer available all-wheel drive. Another difference that can be of great value to customers is that the Sorento L is only available in a five-passenger configuration and the Sorento SXL is offered in just a seven-passenger configuration.

2017 Sorento Technology and Safety Features

Aside from the engine and performance specs of the Sorento, standard features including technology and safety features differ from trim to trim. The Sorento L is the base model which means that there are less standard features than the Sorento SXL which serves as the highest trim level of the SUV.
