2017 Sportage Safety Rating
The 2017 Kia Sportage was awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with optional front crash prevention. As of 2016, testing parameters were changed making the requirements more rigid which means earning this award shows Kia’s ongoing commitment to safety and their dedication to continuous improvement. The IIHS testing parameters now require each vehicle to earn “good” ratings in five crashworthiness tests: small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints as well as an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention in order to qualify for a Top Safety Pick+.
