As this engine comes with the base model Soul, there are actually two transmissions available. You can either get the base model Soul with a 6-speed manual that’s good for 24-city mpg and 30-highway mpg, or you can get a 6-speed automatic that gets even better efficiency with 25-city mpg and 30-highway mpg.
On the performance side, this engine produces 130 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque.
With a bigger engine comes bigger responsibility and some smarter technology. It’s that technology that enables this engine to produce up to 161 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque while still getting very respectable efficiency numbers. How respectable? How about the same as the base Soul?
That’s right, even with the same 6-speed automatic transmission, this engine gets 25-city mpg and 30-highway mpg.
1.6-liter turbo efficiency
With the top trim comes even more power. This little turbocharged engine can output up to 201 horsepower and an even more impressive 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine takes things a step further and adds a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which makes for insanely smooth shifts that are nearly unnoticeable.
The complete package also makes for the best fuel efficiency in the lineup with 26-city mpg and 31-highway mpg.
