The 2019 Forte offers Kia drivers an unexpected mix of style and performance. So, just how much power is underfoot? We dive deep into the sedan’s standard engine and performance specs below.
2019 Kia Forte Engine and Performance Specs
All 2019 Kia Forte models will come standard with the same base engine regardless of trim level, configuration, or add-on packages. Though drivers don’t have much choice about what comes under the hood, we don’t think anyone will be disappointed with the 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder base engine. It’s rated at a healthy 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque so drivers will have plenty of power underfoot when accelerating from a stop or trying to pass someone on the highway.
Base FE Forte models will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission for drivers who want the most control possible from the driver’s seat. For those who prefer automatic, the LXS trim and above comes standard with an Intelligent Variable Transmission system with Sportmatic and the automatic transmission can be added to the base trim as an optional feature.
Fuel Economy Scores
While all 2019 Forte models offer competitive fuel scores, drivers are going to get the most bang for their buck in models outfitted with the automatic transmission system. Base FR models with the available automatic transmission are rated at 31 miles per gallon city and 40 miles per gallon highway for the best fuel scores in the lineup. Other trims with automatic transmission receive similarly impressive fuel scores of 30 miles per gallon city and 40 miles per gallon highway. 2019 Forte models outfitted with a manual transmission will receive the lowest fuel scores of 27 miles per gallon city and 37 miles per gallon highway.
The best way to experience the 2019 Kia Forte is from the driver’s seat. We have a variety of 2019 Forte models available for test drives now at Moritz Kia in Fort Worth, TX.
