How to Deal with Foggy Windows
Nothing is more annoying than getting in your vehicle and having foggy windows and then having to wait until they are clear. Whether the fog is on the inside or the outside of your windows, any time you cannot see clearly is dangerous. That’s why it is important to take the time to effectively clear your foggy windows. Here are some helpful tips on how to deal with foggy windows.
When it’s Colder Outside than Inside Your Vehicle
When it begins getting cold outside, our first instinct is to turn up the heat when we jump into our vehicle. But actually, that is not the most helpful way to deal with foggy windows when it is cold outside. Instead, lower the temperature inside your vehicle rapidly by turning on the defrost vent with cool air and cracking a window, don’t turn on the heat! This will make the inside of your vehicle cooler and help reduce the fog. Also, turn on your vehicle’s rear window defogger to help clear up the back window.
When it’s Warmer Outside than Inside Your Vehicle
When the temperature and moisture level outside are greater than inside your vehicle, moisture will condense on the exterior of the vehicle’s glass. The trick is to increase the temperature on the inside of the vehicle to accumulate less moisture on the outside. For a quick fix, use your windshield wipers. Turn down your AC to the lowest setting to increase the temperature without it becoming too uncomfortable. Also leave your recirculation off, to help clear your foggy windows.
