IIHS Safety Rating of the 2017 Kia Sorento
The Sorento is Kia’s best selling crossover utility vehicle and the 2017 Sorento recently received the highest earning from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2017 Kia Sorento has earned the Top Safety Pick Plus from the IIHS when equipped with optional front-crash prevention. The Sorento earned “good” crashworthiness ratings and a “superior” rating for the optional front-crash prevention system, showing again how Kia continues to demonstrate their commitment to safety.
To qualify for a Top Safety Pick Plus rating, each vehicle must earn “good” ratings in each of the five crashworthiness tests, small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints, as well as an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention. The 2017 Sorento earning the highest honor from the IIHS reinforces Kia’s high priority on safety by offering advanced safety technologies and enhancing vehicle structure by using advanced high-strength steel.
2017 Kia Sorento Driver-Assistance Technologies
The 2017 Kia Sorento is available with many driver-assistance technologies including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and HID headlights with Dynamic Bending Light technology, high-beam assist and rear parking assist. For the 2017 model year, drivers can now choose two optional packages. The advance touring and advance technology packages which offer additional safety features including ones mentioned above.
