After a tragic car accident took the lives of Doug Herbert’s sons, the award-winning drag racer founded the B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe) defensive driving training program. The program partners with local instructors and volunteers nationwide to provide additional instruction on road safety that adds to the information teen drivers receive in Driver’s Ed. Kia is a proud sponsor of the B.R.A.K.E.S. program.
“It’s our honor – and our responsibility – to make this training available to as many teens in as many locations as we possibly can,” said Herbert. “Thanks to our incredible staff, instructors and volunteers – as well as all of our donors, including the incredibly generous Terry Vance, corporate partners, like Kia Motors America and DENSO, and grants from several state Departments of Transportation, General Motors and others – we’ll be able to do that in 2019, and well beyond.”
