At Moritz Kia, we get a lot of questions about Kia Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN). What exactly are they and where can they be located? A VIN is a 17-digit sequence of letters and numbers that identifies your specific model. It can be used to order the correct parts during repair and maintenance and is also used to track the buying and selling of the model over time. Where can you find your VIN? We list the three most common Kia VIN locations below.

Kia Vehicle Identification Number Locations
On Your Title and Paperwork
If you don’t have easy access to your vehicle and you need to identify the VIN, the easiest place to find it will be on the vehicle’s title, registration, or maintenance paperwork. Your title should be stored in a safe location separate from your vehicle and it’s not a bad idea to store a copy of your registration along with it. Your original registration paperwork should be kept in your vehicle’s glove compartment at all times.
On Your Door Jamb
If you have access to your vehicle, finding the VIN should be relatively easy. The first place we suggest you look is on your driver’s side door jamb. There should be a sticker with your VIN printed on it.
On Your Dashboard
If for some reason the sticker on your driver’s side door jamb has worn or faded and the VIN is no longer visible, the next best place to look is on your dashboard on the driver’s side where it meets your windshield. It’s easiest to see from outside of your car looking down through the windshield.
