New Safety Features Available on the 2017 Kia Sorento
The new 2017 Kia Sorento received minor changes for the model year but one thing that was added to the 2017 model are new safety features. So what new safety features are available on the 2017 Kia Sorento? The advance touring and advance technology packages are now being offered on lower trim levels and adds additional safety features including dynamic bending lights, forward collision warning, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, advanced smart cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. The top of the line SXL trim will come standard will all of those active safety features.
Dynamic Bending Light
Helps improve cornering visibility by moving the headlight beam into upcoming turns.
Forward Collision Warning
Uses front-mounted radar to detect a potential collision with the car in front and provides the driver audible warnings and visual signals on the meter display.
Rear-Cross Traffic Alert
The sensor scans for passing vehicles as you back up. If the system detects a potential hazard crossing into your path, a warning sound and light appear on the outside rearview mirror closest to the other vehicle.
Lane Departure Warning
The camera-based system monitors the position of your vehicle within its lane and helps warn if it deviates or is about to deviate from the lane. It also helps warn you of a lane departure when your vehicle is traveling above a certain speed and the vehicle’s turn signal is not activated.
Advanced Smart Cruise Control
The system maintains a safe distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you.
Autonomous Emergency Braking
The system applies the brakes to help prevent or lessen the effects of a frontal collision.

The 2017 Kia Sorento will features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The UVO eServices with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard on the Sorento EX, SX and SX Limited and optional on the LX trim. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay display your phones interface on your touchscreen in your Sorento where you can then access navigation, music, phone, messages and much more. With an easy to use interface, steering-wheel controls and voice control, this feature allows the driver to remain safe by keeping their eyes on the road while utilizing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
