Used vs new vehicles

Do you have a new driver who needs their first car? Or are you the new driver looking for a car? Then stay tuned as we discuss the positives and negatives of buying a used or a new car.

Pre-owned vehicles

You may already have your mind made up on a certain price you aren’t willing to go over. It’s a good idea, to set the highest price you are willing to meet, especially if you are on a budget. This price is generally easier to work with when you are more interested in getting a pre-owned vehicle, or a used vehicle. These types of vehicles are generally less expensive than their new-car counterparts. The downside is that you usually can’t find the latest and greatest new models on a used car lot.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that you’ll need to dig through a pile of decades-old vehicles. Finding 2017 or 2018 models can be pretty easy, especially now that most brands have their upcoming 2019 models out or coming out soon.

New vehicles

While you may be hesitant to get a new vehicle, either because you are concerned with it being a nice car for a first-time driver, or because of the price, there are some perks of buying a new car. Mainly? The technology. And no, we don’t mean the Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, though those are pretty awesome. What we actually mean is the safety technology that you see on more recent vehicles.

This means that the new vehicles have smart technology and driver-assist technologies that are designed to help the driver stay focused, and to potentially help avoid crashes, or at least reduce the severity of a crash. These technologies include things like Forward Collision Alert, Blindspot Alert, and Pedestrian Detection, which can potentially help alert the driver to objects before the driver accidentally runs into them.

Because of these technologies, new vehicles are not quite out of the race when it comes to buying a first car. While used cars can definitely be cheaper, used cars have their perks as well.

I am glad to know that the used vehicle could be the best choice for a new driver. However, such vehicles associated with a lot of problems and a pre-purchase inspection should be conducted to identify such hidden mechanical errors. Such inspection should be carried out by experienced technicians. Because such professionals have in-depth knowledge in such field and could provide proper guidance to get a better deal.

In my point of view, newbies should buy a pre-owned vehicle. However, one should be aware of basic safety factors which should be taken into consideration prior to driving a vehicle. Besides, a person should also be aware of basic car maintenance and repairing tricks which is really essential to keep the vehicle in working order. Different types of lubricants used in the car should be inspected regularly and burnt lubricant should be replaced with suitable substitutes to keep the vehicle in working order.
