Price is a key factor in any comparison and is at the top of the list in this 2017 Kia Soul vs 2016 Kia Soul overview. An affordable starting price of just $16,100 will not break the bank when you opt for the 2017 Kia Soul. Even when you upgrade to the Kia Soul+ and Kia Soul! trim levels, you will find the prices remain affordable at $19,800 and $22,800 respectively. The previous Kia Soul starts at a similar price point to the next-generation Soul. When you examine the next-generation Kia Soul and its predecessor, performance is a key difference. Base Kia Soul models feature a 130-horsepower 1.6-liter inline-4 engines that can be paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. New Kia Soul models equipped with the automatic gearbox will improve fuel-economy ratings to 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. An upgrade to the 2.0-liter inline-4 engine will make 161 horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission with fuel-economy ratings that stand at 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. A primary element that sets the 2017 Kia Soul apart is the addition of an all-new powertrain for the Soul! trim level. With a new turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-4 engine under the hood, the top-of-the-line Kia Soul! will make 201 horsepower. Married to an all-new seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, the Kia Soul! will make 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Entertainment is another highlight of the Kia Soul spec sheet that gets an upgrade when you opt for the 2017 Kia Soul. The Kia UVO multimedia interface provides an elite level of entertainment with an available eight-inch touchscreen display, navigation services and access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto - options that the previous generation cannot provide.
