2019 Kia Sorento vs 2019 Chevrolet Traverse
If you are searching for your future SUV, you may have stumbled upon the 2019 Kia Sorento. Due to the popularity of SUVs, it is unsurprising that this upcoming 2019 Kia model has many competitors; one of which is the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. In an effort to figure out where the 2019 Kia Sorento stands amidst the other upcoming 2019 SUV models, we’ve decided to compare it to the 2019 Traverse.
In order to do so, we have taken some specs and features from the 2019 Kia Sorento L, or the base model. It is compared to the base model of the 2019 Chevrolet Travrese, which is also the L trim. This contributes to our efforts to remain as fair as possible for both vehicles.
Now, let’s take a look at where these two vehicles differ, and what advantages the Sorento has.

2019 Chevrolet Traverse
|Standard||Satellite Radio?||Available on other styles|

Advantages of the 2019 Kia Sorento
As you can see in the table above, the 2019 Kia Sorento has a bit of an advantage over the 2019 Chevy Traverse when it comes to fuel efficiency, technology features, and pricing. If you are planning any adventures where a satellite radio is needed, either for normal use, or as a backup in case your own phone doesn’t have service, then the 2019 Kia Sorento might be the right choice for you. The base model of the Sorento comes with a standard satellite radio. While you can get one on the Chevy Traverse as well, it isn’t available on the lowest trim, so you would need to get a different trim than the one we are looking at.
The Sorento also has slightly better fuel economy as well. It has an EPA-estimated 22 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway, coming to a combined 25 mpg. This is slightly more than the 18 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and combined 21 mpg for the 2019 Traverse.
When it comes to basic warranty, the Kia Sorento’s will last longer than the Traverse, as well, since you’ll have basic warranty for 5 years, compared to the 3 years on the Traverse.
All of these benefits, and you still have a lower starting MRSP on the Sorento than you do with the Traverse, so if you are interested in these specs and features on the Sorento, you just might want to look at it over the Traverse.
