Space, style, and practicality combine in the three-row crossover SUV class. With plenty of room to fit the whole family comfortably while running across town on busy weekdays or during a family trip on the weekend, the three-row SUV class means that families don’t need to compromise on style to get the space they need.

The 2019 Kia Sorento is the brand’s second largest SUV after the addition of the Telluride for the 2020 model year. With a competitive starting MSRP and a class-leading warranty, drivers may be first drawn to the model for its affordable price tag, but it stands toe-to-toe against other top competitors on all fronts. To highlight the 2019 Sorento’s ability, we compared it to another class-leader, the 2019 Honda Pilot, below. Keep reading to see how it fares!

Interior Space, Performance, and Standard Features

While the 2019 Kia Sorento SUV does offer a smaller interior footprint than the 2019 Honda Pilot, its cabin is laid out to maximize comfort with first and second-row passengers scoring more total legroom than is offered in the 2019 Honda Pilot. If the eighth passenger seat and larger cargo area aren’t necessary, your passengers may thank you for sticking with the thoughtfully-designed Sorento.

Not only does the 2019 Sorento provide a little extra room for passengers to lounge, but it’s lighter on the wallet and provides a few standard features that aren’t available on the base 2019 Honda Pilot making it as attractive as it is practical. The smaller starting MSRP may save drivers a significant sum right off the bat on the day or purchase while better fuel economy scores will help save money over time at the gas pump. Plus, with standard Apple CarPlay, a higher base towing capacity, and better performance figures on the base model, the 2019 Sorento outperforms the 2019 Pilot lineup on a variety of key metrics.

Like we mentioned earlier, the 2019 Sorento is overall a little smaller than the Pilot, but that also helps it perform better in terms of power with a responsive accelerator and 290 horsepower on its base engine compared to 280 horsepower on base 2019 Pilot models. It also offers a second upgraded engine option for added power while the 2019 Pilot lineup does not.
