Powertrain Options and Performance

Both the 2019 Kia Soul and 2019 Nissan Kicks offer a standard 1.6L engine on their base models. However, not only does the 2019 Soul’s 1.6L engine offer more horsepower with a rating of 130 compared to 122 but the 2019 Soul lineup offers two additional engine upgrades on higher trims where there are none on the 2019 Nissan Kicks.

So, drivers of the base 2019 Kia Soul will experience a slightly more powerful response from the accelerator compared to any 2019 Nissan Kicks model and drivers of one of the higher trims on the Soul with experience even more engagement.

The 2019 Soul + trim offers a standard 2.0L four-cylinder GDI engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission system with Sportmatic® rated at a healthy 161 horsepower. Finally, the 2019 Soul ! Trim offers a 1.6L four-cylinder Turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch transmission rated at a spirited 201 horsepower making it the most powerful configuration in the lineup.
